On behalf of the Buna Independent School District Board of Trustees and 261 staff members, welcome to Buna ISD!
The spring semester is off to a productive start and we are excited about all the great things BISD is working on to improve student outcomes. First, Buna ISD has begun the Collaborative Visioning (CV) Process. This success roadmap is centered around five pillars. They are:
Student Learning
Teaching
Social & Emotional Learning (SEL) and Safety
Community Involvement
College, Career and Military Readiness (CCMR)
Parents, community members, business leaders, teachers, and students are involved in the CV process and will help lay the foundation for many years to come!
In addition, several spring projects are in the works. They include the construction of a new baseball/softball concession stand, new fences around play areas, a new marching field for the band, and a parking lot and sidewalks at baseball/softball fields. Furthermore, BHS recently received two sponsorships for new scoreboards from Branch Ranch and EastTex Credit Union.
Finally, BISD has been steadily improving student safety this year thorugh the purchase of a newer police SUV, increasing cameras, securing fence around playgrounds, implementing suicide prevention measures, and drug testing BHS students who participate in extra-curricular activities and/or drive. Student safety is our top priority and we will continue to improve in this area each semester.
I value your feedback. If there are ever any questions, comments, concerns, or joys to share, please contact me at 409-994-4922 or at dlee@bunaisd.net.
